ADESH
WELFARE SOCIETY, MUKTSAR came into existence
with aim of transforming the society at
large by imparting education to the coming
up youth and to fulfill the needs of the
under privileged section of the society
by all modes at the disposal of the society.
Vocational Education in the need of the
hour. Gone are the colonial days when a
job was considered to be social status.
Now we need a new generation of youth trained
in the various disciplines who are self
dependent. Independently viable & are
capable of being the instrument of change
of society to the order of the day. With
this very aim in mind Adesh Welfare Society
in running GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery)
course since 1992. The college started B.Sc.
Nursing 4 Years course from 1998, B.Sc.
(N) Post Basic 2 year course for Diploma
trained Registered Nurse from 2002 and M.Sc.
Nursing 2 year course from 2008. The sister
concern of this society Adesh Hospital &
Research Centre , Muktsar is a 250 bedded
referral Hospital with all the specialties
& super specialties & latest equipments.
The Society is also running 50 bedded Adesh
Charitable Cancer Hospital at Muktsar. The
hospital is serving the society by providing
health care services & is an ideal set-up
to train young nurse of tomorrow.
The society is headed by humble,
progressive professional Dr. Harinder Singh
Gill (M.D. Med.) who is ready to work for
the cause of social development by all the
means in addition to his professional sphere.
Religion deals with the total life of the
people & is much wider in prospect &
rather older than philosophy which deals
with our specific aspect of life. It is
ideal expression of finer aspect of life
that human race aspires to live. It must
exist and rise up in the soul of man &
should reflect in the words, deeds, customs,
way of life & its institutions. In fear
of his highness as an instrument of his
will all purposeful, dedicated life in the
service of his creation (World) is the aim
of Sikh Philosophy.
OBJECTIVES
To help the students:-
To acquire knowledge and understanding
of the basic principal underlying techniques
and methods used in nursing.
To develop skills and attitude necessary
to planning and carrying out comprehensive
Nursing care for sick person of all ages
in the community.
To develop an ability to think and act independently
and to accept responsibility as an individual,
a nurse and a citizen.
To develop an ability to provide individual
care to sick or well which contribute to
total health.
To co-operate with other in the hospital
and in the community for the care of the
sick, prevention of disease and promotion
of health.
To create interest to develop professionally.

The prescribed application form attached
with this prospectus for GNM course (On
payment of prescribed fee) must be completed
in applicant's own handwriting and sent
to the Principal, College of Nursing along
with:
One copy of recent passport size
photograph signed and attested.
Three un-attested photograph (Back &
White)
Attested copies of certificate and mark
sheets.
Merit certificate (if any)
Candidate belonging to the schedule caste/schedule
tribes must produce the certificate of SC/ST
from the Deputy Commissioner or S.D.O. (Civil)
of the district to which the candidate belongs
with the seal of the court or the stamp
of the office who knows the candidate personally
or is satisfied the identity of the candidate.
A Health Certificate from the Civil Surgeon
of Medical Superintendent of the hospital.
Two self-addressed envelops bearing Rs.
5/- stamps along with application should
be submitted for further correspondence.
Last date of receiving application form
is as declared by PNRC, Chandigarh.
Incomplete application form will not be
co considered.
Terms and Condition of admission:
Admission to GNM course will be
strictly made on the merit list prepared
by scrutinizing the application. Candidates
must submit their original Matric and +2
certificates and marks sheets on admission.
Seats availability: - Total no. of seats
is 60 candidates are done only in the month
of September. Any auxiliary nurse and Midwife
working in a Govt. hospital should apply
through proper channel.
Classes will commence from 1st September
of every year.
Medium of instruction will be English.
Age 17 Years to 35 Years on the 31st December
of Admission year.
Minimum Education: Candidates must have
12 years of education with science or Art
Subjects and 40% marks in aggregate. For
Schedule caste & schedule tribes candidates
35% marks in aggregate.
Science and Punjabi compulsory up to Matric
level. Preferences will be given to 10+2
Science : Medical or Non-Medical.
Candidate should physically fit.
Punjab domicile.
Hostel : The hostel located in
the main hospital campus. This is a beautiful
building with attractive furnished visitor’s
room. recreation room and dinning hall.
There are beautiful lawns and play ground
around the building . It is a privilege
which should be utilized carefully. The
students have to abide by the rules and
regulation prescribed by the authority and
help in creating a home like atmosphere
in order to promote a well balanced personality
the students are encouraged to participates
in religious social and professional activities.
Provision for sports & games is available
students are advice to use free time creatively
a separate application form for hostel accommodation
has to be filled.
Religious Life : There is Gurudwara
connected with the main hospital regular
morning and evening services are held student
should make an effort to attend these.
Health Programme : The staff and
students health services in the main hospital
provides health care for students. The students
have physical examination soon after admission.
Students are immunized against infectious
diseases monthly weight record is kept for
each student.
Teaching Facilities : There is
a beautiful college building with all facilities
equipments and well qualified staff. Facilities
for hospital are available for the nursing
students clinical practice at bed side is
compulsory right from the 1st year of training.
