AIMSR is the gem institution of Adesh Foundation,
the pioneer in medical & technical education
in Malwa belt of Punjab.
The institution is located about 12 kms.
from Bathinda Railway station, conveniently
located on the main Barnala-Sangrur-Patiala
highway with good road and railways connectivity
to all major cities in Punjab and India.
The institute is set right on the highway
in a clean and unpolluted environment. The
campus is about 70 acres in area having
24 hours running water & electricity,
the latter supported by a state of the art
silent generator of 1000 kW capacity thus
ensuring continuous electricity supply to
the hospital, college and the residences.
The institution also has got its own sewage
treatment plant and an incinerator as per
the stringent requirements of pollution
control board ensuring clean and unpolluted
environment.
THE COLLEGE
The College of Physiotherapy was established
in the year of 2006 at Bathinda by the esteemed
"ADESH FOUNDATION". The College
of Physiotherapy, Adesh Institute of Medical
Sciences and Research is duly approved by
Government of Punjab and Affiliated to Adesh University.
Our aim here is to create the skilled and
the BEST PHYSIOTHERAPISTS to serve the humanity.
This is the only institute attached with
its own 750 bedded advanced multi-specialty
referral hospital in the whole of northern
states of India. The College of Physiotherapy
has Exercise Therapy, Electro Therapy, Hydrotherapy
labs with Out-patient Departments and also
has 40 bedded Indoor Physiotherapy Ward.
The panel of faculties consists of dedicated
and highly motivated physiotherapists and
medical professionals.
The admission procedure is as laid down
by the Adesh University. All the teaching departments of
basic sciences are equipped with state of
the art modern equipments, instruments and
teaching aids. The institute has lecture
halls with ample seating capacity and equipped
with multimedia and other audiovisual facilities
along with sound amplifying systems.
The college has got a central internet hub
with a huge band width backup from which
internet connections have been provided
on the computer of all the departments of
the college and teaching hospital, thus
helping the staff members to update their
knowledge and skills from time to time.
In addition a spacious examination hall
for students to appear in their departmental
or university examination has been provided.
Recreational facilities and outdoor games
have been very amply provisioned for in
the college campus having football, hockey
and cricket grounds along with badminton,
volleyball and basketball courts. Indoor
games are provided in the college building
recreation room. Water coolers have been
provided in majority of the departments
for the facility of the students.
THE PROFESSION (PHYSIOTHERAPY)
It's a Health profession, concerned with
assessment, diagnosis and treatment of disease
and disability through physical means. It
is based upon principles of modern medical
science.
It works toward better health by maintaining
the individual’s physical activity,
which bringing back the lost activity to
near normal perfection.
SCOPE
As a Physiotherapist, one has a choice from
a huge horizon of potentials to earn a respectful
& wealthy living. Choices are many,
it could be a platform to have own practice
in the form of a clinic or Out Patient Department;
or be a part of medical team in hospitals
or nursing homes in India or abroad. One
could also attach in a national or state
sports team or be a consultant for a slimming
centre. Teaching & research are yet
other aspects which one could look into
with this profession.
THE TEACHING HOSPITAL
The teaching hospital of AIMSR is a majestic
7 storey building plus a basement providing
a land mark not to be missed on the Bathinda
- Barnala highway. It has got a capacity
of 750 beds and is an advanced multi specialty
referral hospital in a true sense. It is
the beginning of a vision leading ultimately
to a mini postgraduate institute in this
region of Punjab.
The hospital has an entrance foyer which
provides a splendid view and a visual comfort
for the patients, having enough space to
seat more than 250 patients and their attendants
waiting for their registrations, buying
medicines at the pharmacy on one side or
simply waiting for the relatives. The emergency
is conveniently located close to the main
entrance from the highway for easy and quick
access to the ambulance. An emergency labour
room along with the main gynecological 0
P D is conveniently located for easy access
to the females. The out patient departments
are present on three floors divided grossly
in to surgical, medical and allied for all
the subjects of M.B.B.S. courses plus super
specialties of neurosurgery, neuromedicine,
paediatric surgery, nephrology, urology,
cardiology, etc. The OPD’s are provided
with best of the equipments for examining
the outdoor patients. The intensive care
wing has got intensive critical care unit,
intensive cardiac care unit, pediatric intensive
care unit, neonatal intensive care unit
plus a renal dialysis wing.
The investigative departments are equipped
with latest state of the art technology
instruments and equipments for X-RAY, CAT,
MRI, blood chemistry, pathology, microbiology
etc supported by ultra sound, colour doppler,
audiometry lab, treadmill etc, a lithotripter
is present in urology department for the
problem of urinary tract stones much prevalent
in Malwa region of Punjab. The hospital
has got a blood bank with most modern facilities.
The hospital also has got special rooms
with deluxe facilities. There are in all
about 12 operation theatres with piped in
facilities for vital supplies needed during
operations. A 24 hour pharmacy is present
in the hospital for dispensing medicines
& surgicals.

Exercise Therapy
The department of exercise therapy has Ramps
& Steps, Parallel bars, Guthrie Smith
Suspension frame, Shoulder Wheel, Wall ladder
& Rope Ladder, Quadriceps Table, Treadmill
& Static Cycle, Medicine Balls, Weights
& Pulley Circuits, Exercising equipment
for all peripheral joints, Peg Boards, Bobath
Couch and Rowing Machine.
LABORATORIES
ANATOMY: Very well stocked
Anatomy Lab with Human Skeletons, set of
bones, visceral organ specimen, dissection
hall, model charts and posters.
PHYSIOLOGY: Well equipped
lab, with haemocytometers, Neubar chamber,
Sphygmomanometer, Stethoscopes, Automated
cell counter etc.
PATHOLOGY: Well equipped
Lab with Binocular microscopes, microtomes,
different stains & chemical reagents,
facilities for biopsy, FNAC etc,
MICROBIOLOGY: Well equipped
Lab with microscope, autoclaves, incubators
and hot air ovens, facilities for blood,
urine and pus culture.
BIOCHEMISTRY: Well equipped
Lab with fully automated analyzer, semi
automated analyzer, ELISA reader, electrolyte
analyzer (ISE), arterial blood gas analyzer
etc.
RESIDENTIALS
The campus has got a boys and girls hostel
with a capacity of 300 students each. The
hostels have got a common room facility
with dining rooms having ample capacity
and also a common room for TV viewing and
indoor games facility. The rooms are well
ventilated, air cooled, triple sharing with
attached bathrooms. The campus in addition
has about 80 staff quarters of various types.
The institute also has got playgrounds for
hockey, cricket, football, badminton, volleyball,
basketball etc. There is a canteen which
can house more than 200 people at a time
for breakfast, lunch, dinner etc. with a
separate seating arrangement for faculty,
staff, students, patients & their attendants
etc.
PLACEMENT CELL
This institute is having an active placement
cell for the bright future of physiotherapists,
by appending with INDIAN ASSOCIATION OF
PHYSIOTHERAPISTS and Association with Health
Professionals International, USA. The institution
has attachment with various Multi Specialty
Hospitals and Rehabilitation Centers in
the following states and territories –
Delhi, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Jammu, Tamilnadu,
Kerala, Karnataka, Maharastra, Orissa, Himachal
Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Eligibility:
1. Candidate must have passed in the subject
of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
individually and must have obtained a minimum
of 35% marks (Pass marks in case of SC/BC)
taken together in Physics, Chemistry and
Biology in 10+2 examination.
2. Result not declared – A candidate
who has appeared for qualifying examination
in the annual batch, but whose result has
not been declared may be provisionally permitted
to apply for Bachelor of Physiotherapy.
The candidate will be required to produce
the evidence of the result having been declared
and he/she having passed the examination
2007 fulfilling the eligibility conditions
by the time of joining.
3. Age: Candidate must have completed the
age of 17 years, on or before 31st December
2007, i.e. he/she should have born on or
before 31st December 1990.
4. Should have studied during his/her 10+1
and 10+2 examination as regular candidate
from a recognized institution situated in
the State of Punjab only except for the
exemptions wherever applicable. The candidate
would be required to submit a certificate
to this effect from the Principal/Head of
the Institute last attended in the prescribed
Performa.
5. In case candidate has also taken up Mathematics
along with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and
English then the marks obtained in Mathematics
shall not be considered for admission to
Bachelor of Physiotherapy.
6. 50% of the total seats shall constitute
the Management Quota including 15% of the
total seats for Foreign Indian Students
(NRI Candidates).
Total Seats: 60 (sixty)
Division of Seats:
Government Quota Seats – 50%
Management Quota seats – 50% (Including
N.R.I and Other State Quota)
Government Quota Seats:
The Government quota seats would be filled
up by the Admissions Committee appointed
by the Government on the basis of merit
in PPMET-2007, only except, if provided
otherwise.
Management Quota Seats:
The management Quota seats would be filled
up by a Central Admission Committee strictly
on the basis of merit in the PPMET-2007,
except, if provided otherwise. After the
counseling of PPMET, the remaining seats
of management quota seats would be filled
up by the direct admission in this institution
on the basis of merit and as per the norms
of Adesh University.
NRI Seats:
15% of total seats will be a part of the
management Quota. The candidate seeking
admission against NRI seats in the College
of Physiotherapy will be admitted on merit
determined by the university on issuing
eligibility certificate.
NRI's candidate will be given weightage
by the following way:
First preference will be given to NRI's
having ancestral origin in Punjab.
Second preference will be given to NRI's
having ancestral origin in states other
than Punjab.
Third Preference will be given to those
Indian candidates who are sponsored by the
NRI's.
Fourth preference will be given to those
candidates who are willing to pay the fee
in Indian currency equivalent to the stipulated
fee.
