Adesh Diagnostics, an unit of Adesh
Medical Centre (P) Ltd. introduced WHOLE BODY MAGNETIC
RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) facility for the first time in Malwa
region of Punjab and proved to be a boon for people of Bathinda and
its surrounding region. The cost to patient for getting a MRI scan
done is reduce due to close vicinity. Now patients would not have to
go to distant areas such as Ludhiana (164 k.m.), Jalandhar (184
k.m.), Chandigarh (218 k.m.), Amritsar (175 k.m.) for MRI
investigation and hence not bear extra expenditure and delay in
diagnosis, which results in harmful consequences leading to death of
Unprecedented developments have taken place that
has catapulted MRI to the forefront of modern medical imaging. MRI
has widespread applications in routine clinical practice and
provides significant and valuable information that cannot be
duplicated by other imaging modalities. This is especially true in
imaging all lesions in head, spine and musculoskeletal system. MRI
also has the unique advantage of assessing the entire vascular tree
without the need of administering exogenous contrast agent.
Presently MRI is used for imaging from head to foot; and from bone
marrow imaging to bone and soft tissue.
We, at Adesh
Diagnostics have installed latest and modern (brand new)
SIGNA Profile/ i Open Magnetic Resonance System with a Slew
Rate capability of 30mT/m/msec from WIPRO GE Medical
Systems to deliver all advanced applications. The astounding
variety of newer and faster acquisition techniques are providing
unprecedented wealth of diagnostic information for
Dr. G. S. Shekhawat, M.D. (Radio-diagnosis) and
Gold Medallist from S. M. S. Medical College, Jaipur is one of the
Directors of the company. This centre is running under his direct
day-to-day supervision and management.
Dr. (Mrs.) Deepshikha
Shekhawat is also M.D. (Radio-diagnosis), DNB (Radio diagnosis). She
has also done one year PDCC (Post Doctoral Certificate Course) in
Neuro-radiology & three years senior residency at SGPGI,
Lucknow. She has been Assistant Professor at P.G.I., Chandigarh. Dr.
(Mrs.) Shekhawat is also working as full-time Consultant Radiologist
at Adesh Dignostics.
MRI has a vast critical role in
early and correct diagnosis, which is the most important factor in
management of critical patients. MRI has a very important role in
Headache, Seizure, Stroke - EPI & Diffusion Images for Early
Inject Detection, Brain Tumours. In Spine, Disc disease or any kind
of tumour safe in diseases during pregnancy because MRI have no
radiation. In child, no radiation hazard during Myelination of
Brain, best Imaging Mortality in HIE, White Matter Disease. In
joints, Cruciale Ligament Injury, Meniscitear, Joint Effusion, other
joint diseases. In abdomen, very useful for Abdominal Tumours, Liver
Masses, Renal Masses, Pelvic Masses, MRCP for Biliary system.

MRI: AN INDISPENSABLE DIAGNOSTIC
We cater various novel techniques. Some of these are
1. Diffusion weighted Imaging (DWI)
DWI noninvasively and quickly provides information about the
in-vivo water diffusion in the pathological tissue, hence providing
early diagnosis of the Infarct within one hour.
Resonace angiography (MRA)
MRA has enjoyed clinical success
in the assessment of the cranial, carotid and peripheral vessels.
The main advantage of MRA is the visualization of major blood
vessels without the use of contrast agent. Contrast enhanced MRI
tends to further increase the resolution, thus allowing
visualization of smaller vessels with slow flow .It also overcomes
the flow related artifacts.
3. Magnetic Resonace
MRCP is emerging as an
exciting tool for the non-invasive evaluation of pancreatic and
biliary ductal systems and is gradually replacing PTC and ERCP for
diagnostic purposes. Duct dilatation, stricture and ductal filling
defects are clearly seen and the diagnostic information obtained is
equivalent to ERCP in most patients.
4. Magnetic Resonance
MRU is recently being added to the
diagnostic work up of a case of urinary tract obstruction. The
coronal images using FISP or HASTE sequences rapidly portray a
dilated collecting system and demonstrate the site of obstruction.
It avoids use of contrast agent and radiation to the
5. Magnetic Resonance Myelography (MRM)
a non-invasive modality that gives myelography-like pictures without
the need for injection of contrast agent into the subarachnoid
space. It is done by two techniques namely RARE (highly T2 weighted
image) and FISP 3D.
6. Magnetic Resonance Cisternography (MRC)
MRC is a non-invasive way of detection of CSF leaks with no
need of lumbar puncture and injection of intra-thecal contrast or
use of ionizing radiation.
Since a prompt and accurate
diagnosis is important for determining treatment strategies and
planning rehabilitation programs, we hope that we would be of help
to patients to get significant health benefits from the pivotal
information provided by MRI.
